AuditionsAll Auditions will be held at the Smoky Mountain Community Theatre on Main Street in Bryson City. Need Directions? William Shakespeare's comedy “Much Ado About Nothing” is coming to Bryson City! The play will be at the Smoky Mountains Community Theatre in the late spring. All ages are needed, from high school students on up. Open auditions will be at the theatre on Main Street in downtown Bryson City: Friday, Jan. 28
People interested in signing up can attend any one of these three nights, and are not required to attend more than one night. The play is one of Shakespeare’s most endearing and enduring plays. People are still laughing along with Benedick and Beatrice, 400 years later. The plot is very simple by Shakespeare’s standards: A group of friends plots to bring a couple together, while a nasty villain plots to drive another couple apart. No special training is needed — the language in “Much Ado” is simpler than in other Shakespeare plays, so it’s more accessible to modern audiences. Actors will have plenty of resources available to help them get at the meaning behind the words. There are also other opportunities to help out — behind the scenes, or even performing live music on stage! For information, call Lee Zion at (828)736-4861 Hope to see you there! |
